Long Creek Rd data center (denied)

Rezoning denied; in limbo

Mesquite

Approximate location

A proposal to swap an approved industrial building on Long Creek Rd for a roughly 202,800-sq-ft, 48 MW data center was denied by the Mesquite City Council on March 16, 2026, despite a P&Z recommendation to approve. Later reconsideration requests have left it in limbo. Colovore still lists a planned 44.8 MW data center at 200 Long Creek Rd.

Why it mattersResident pushback led to the denial, and Mesquite is now drafting data center rules: a 65-decibel noise cap, water and utility impact studies, and a ban in residential, commercial and mixed-use zones.
