Main Street is the civic center, not a shopping district
Haslet's center is a short stretch of Main Street with City Hall at 101 Main St. and the Community Center at 105 Main St. The Haslet Public Library sits next to John Gammill Park on Gammill Street, and Gammill Park connects to the larger Haslet Community Park at 301 1st St. S. Together these blocks are where the city holds its events, classes and meetings.
We did not confirm any restaurants or shops on Main Street with 2025-2026 evidence, so none are listed here. Most retail with a Haslet mailing address sits east along Avondale-Haslet Road and on Sendera Ranch Boulevard, and several of those stores are inside Fort Worth city limits. New commercial building is under way on Avondale-Haslet Road: state filings show a 17,000-square-foot convenience store and retail center (Haslet Community Plaza) and an office-warehouse building at Haslet Crossing near Intermodal Parkway, both scheduled for 2026.
A small, steady events calendar
The city's two big events are both at Haslet Community Park. The 21st Annual Independence Day Celebration & Fireworks ran on Friday, June 26, 2026, with vendors from 6 p.m., free kids' rides and fireworks launched near Nance Field after dark. Christmas in the Park is set for Saturday, Dec. 5, 2026, from 3 to 7 p.m., with a snow slide, a train ride, Northwest ISD student performers, and Santa arriving on a Haslet fire truck before the 5:45 p.m. tree lighting.
In summer the parks department runs Fantastic Fridays morning events (a foam party on June 5, 2026) and a Movie in the Park. Year-round, the city offers yoga at the Community Center on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, Tai Chi in Community Park on Saturday mornings, and a weekly senior luncheon. The library runs storytimes for babies and toddlers, teen Dungeons & Dragons, a mahjong class and a stitching group.
Parks, trails and the lake to the west
The city lists two parks plus ballfields. John Gammill Park has a covered pavilion, a fenced all-abilities play area, picnic tables and restrooms. Haslet Community Park adds an 18-hole disc golf course, sand volleyball, a basketball court, a large pavilion, playgrounds and walking trails. Baseball is played at Nance Field on Schoolhouse Road and at fields behind the fire station. The city does not publish park acreage.
Trails are short: a 0.50-mile lower loop and a 0.25-mile upper loop in Community Park, and the 1.40-mile TAP Trail, built with a 2015 TxDOT Transportation Alternatives grant. Parks open 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. For a bigger outing, the Tarrant Regional Water District's Eagle Mountain Park covers 400 acres on the northwest side of Eagle Mountain Lake, with more than 5 miles of trails.
Errands mostly mean Avondale-Haslet Road or Alliance
We found no full-size grocery store inside city limits. The closest supercenter is Walmart at 2401 Avondale Haslet Rd., which Walmart lists as a Fort Worth store; it has a pharmacy. H-E-B's Alliance store at 3451 Heritage Trace Pkwy. in Fort Worth opened in April 2024 and is about 13 minutes from City Hall by our routing estimate. It also has a pharmacy with a drive-thru.
CVS Pharmacy is at 13901 Sendera Ranch Blvd. (Haslet mailing address). CareNow runs an urgent care at 2432 Avondale Haslet Rd.; the clinic was a CommunityMed site until those clinics joined CareNow on Feb. 1, 2026. The nearest hospital is Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Alliance at 10864 Texas Health Trail in Fort Worth, about 11 minutes away. It lists emergency care and is adding NICU beds in a project scheduled through August 2027.
Schools: Northwest ISD, with a new high school proposed
Haslet is in Northwest ISD. The district's feeder chart sends Haslet Elementary (pre-K to 5, 1188 Wisdom Way) to Worthington Middle School (1045 Mascot Blvd., opened 2023) and then to V.R. Eaton High School for both 2025-26 and 2026-27. Other NISD zones also use Haslet mailing addresses, so check the district's boundary tool for a specific address.
Northwest ISD earned a B in the state's 2026 ratings. In the 2025 ratings, Haslet Elementary, Worthington Middle and Eaton High each earned a B. A Sept. 30, 2026 proposal would move the Haslet Elementary zone to the new Davis High School starting in 2027-28; the board was set to vote Nov. 9. Students already enrolled at their current high school could stay.
Getting around and public safety
Haslet borders I-35W, US 287 and Fort Worth Alliance Airport, and FM 156 runs through town. There is no fixed-route transit. Off-peak, City Hall is about 24 minutes from downtown Fort Worth and about 51 minutes from Dallas City Hall by Realust's routing estimate. Rush hour on I-35W and US 287 adds time.
The Haslet Fire Department works from one station at 1701 S. FM 156, which received a $3.1 million addition (state filing dates Sept. 2024 to July 2025). It covers about 19 square miles and holds an ISO Class 3 rating for buildings near a station and hydrant. MedStar provides ambulance service. The city's contact page lists the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office rather than a city police department.

The tax bill starts with Northwest ISD
Homes in Haslet's Tarrant County part pay five taxing units: Northwest ISD at 1.0841, the city at 0.3155, Tarrant County at 0.1862, the JPS hospital district at 0.165 and Tarrant County College at 0.1123. All rates are per $100 of value. Together that is 1.86% before exemptions, close to Roanoke and Keller and below Fort Worth, Watauga and Saginaw. The small Denton County part totals 1.59%.
Exemptions cut the bill a lot. The school district takes $140,000 off a homestead's value. The city, the county and the hospital district each take 20%. Owners 65 and older get more, including a $50,000 city exemption and a school tax ceiling.
At the ACS median home value of $616,000, Realust estimates the 2025 bill at about $9,130 a year, or $761 a month, an effective rate near 1.48%. The same house as a rental with no exemptions would owe about $11,480.
Rates are moving in 2026
The city adopted a 2026 rate of 0.3614 on Aug. 17, 2026, up from 0.3155. Northwest ISD lowered its rate to 1.0638 for 2026-27. County, hospital and college rates for 2026 were not confirmed in this run.
Most new subdivisions carry a PID
Haslet uses public improvement districts, not MUDs, to pay for streets, water lines and drainage in new subdivisions. The city publishes yearly service plans for six active PIDs: North Glen, Regal Ridge, LeTara, Caraway, Watercress and Sweetgrass.
Each lot pays a flat yearly installment set by lot type, billed with property taxes and due by Jan. 31. For the 2026 installments, they run from about $1,340 in parts of LeTara to about $3,315 in Watercress. Outstanding balances per lot run from about $18,700 to $46,900. Payments end when the balance is paid, and owners can prepay.
On the typical home above, a $2,186 Sweetgrass installment would raise the yearly total to about $11,320, or $943 a month. Ask for the PID disclosure and check the address on the appraisal district site.
City utilities stop at the city line
Haslet bills water, sewer and trash only inside city limits. Many homes with Haslet mailing addresses, including Sendera Ranch, Avondale Farms, Haslet Heights and Northstar, sit outside city limits and get these services elsewhere.
Inside the city, water costs $33.05 for the first 2,000 gallons, then $5.18 per 1,000 gallons up to 30,000. Sewer is based on winter water use. The city's sample bill at 13,000 gallons comes to $237.36, including $20.51 for trash. A new residential account needs a $100 deposit.
Republic Services collects trash and recycling every Wednesday, plus brush and bulk items twice a month.
Electric, gas and internet
Haslet is in Oncor's delivery area, so residents choose a retail electric plan. In late October 2026 the cheapest 12-month fixed plan cost about $141 a month at 1,000 kWh. Tri-County Electric Cooperative also serves the area, so check which lines serve an address. Atmos Energy is the listed gas provider.
AT&T offers fiber or other wired service to about 80% of the city, and Spectrum covers about 56%. Fixed wireless and satellite fill the gaps.
HOA dues and renting
HOA dues vary by subdivision: $850 a year in LeTara, $2,000 in Sweetgrass and $2,300 in Watercress, based on a builder page and recent listings. Those come on top of any PID installment.
Haslet has few rentals. ACS put the median gross rent at $1,786 a month (2019–2023).

A rail stop that stayed small
Haslet formed in 1883, when the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway built through northern Tarrant County. It took its name from the Michigan hometown of the railroad's contractor, and a post office opened in 1887.
For most of the next century it was tiny: 67 people in 1903 and about 175 after World War II. It had incorporated by the mid-1960s. The 1990 Census counted 795, and by then the Handbook of Texas described it as a commuter town for Fort Worth. The 2020 Census counted 1,952.
Population: from about 2,000 to more than 5,000
The Census Bureau estimates 5,267 residents on July 1, 2025, up from 2,024 in July 2020. The biggest jump came between 2021 and 2022, when the estimate rose by more than 1,000.
NCTCOG, the regional planning council, estimates 5,613 residents on Jan. 1, 2026, up 581 in one year. The city spans Tarrant and Denton counties, but the Census Bureau counts all residents in the Tarrant County part. No official population projection for Haslet was found.
Housing: permits and the mailing-address trap
Census permit data show the City of Haslet authorized fewer than 35 homes a year through 2018. That rose to 83 in 2019, 148 in 2020 and a record 404 in 2021. From 2020 through 2025 the city permitted 1,484 homes, all single-family. The Census survey counted 1,161 housing units in 2020-2024, almost all owner-occupied.
Builders list about ten active communities with Haslet addresses, including Sweetgrass (294 acres, Perry Homes, American Legend and GFO), Wellington, Elizabeth Creek, Rancho Canyon, Madero, The Vines and LeTara, which is closing out. LaPrelle, a Tri Pointe and M/I Homes venture west of Haslet, was planned for about 900 homes on 372 acres.
A 76052 address does not mean a home is in the city. Several of these communities may be in Fort Worth or unincorporated county land, which changes the city services, taxes and permit rules that apply. Check the city limits map for any address.
What is driving it
Haslet sits on the west side of the AllianceTexas logistics corridor. Amazon opened a 1.1 million sq ft fulfillment center in Haslet in 2013, with about 1,500 workers by 2015, and announced a second Haslet center with 1,000 jobs in 2016.
Roads are the other driver. A $20 million federal grant in 2018 helped fund Haslet Parkway, a four-lane link from I-35W, which opened in spring 2023 along with an Intermodal Parkway extension. TxDOT plans to widen US 81/287 from Avondale-Haslet Road to I-35W; WFAA reported bidding for phase one could open in late 2026 if funding allows. Fort Worth set Feb 2026 to start widening its stretch of Avondale-Haslet Road. Truck traffic from the warehouses is a known strain on US 287.
Schools
Northwest ISD serves Haslet; V.R. Eaton High School and several middle and elementary schools have Haslet addresses. The district grew from 19,831 students in 2014-15 to 32,098 in 2024-25 and reported 32,839 in 2025-26. Voters approved a $1.995 billion bond in May 2023 after rejecting a 2020 bond.
Earlier forecasts ran ahead of actual enrollment. The district's Sept 2026 forecast calls for about 35,600 students in 2030-31 and 37,300 in 2035-36.
Values and incomes
Census survey data show the median owner-estimated home value at $293,700 in 2011-2015, $381,100 in 2015-2019 and $616,000 in 2020-2024. Median household income was $104,000, $142,656 and $169,046 over the same periods.
These are five-year averages for a small city, with wide margins of error. Much of the rise reflects new, larger homes being added to the count.
